How to care for your original Kayla Martell oil painting

Choosing a location for your painting

Oil paintings are best stored away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and humidity to preserve longitivtiy. All of Kayla’s paintings are varnished to preserve their natural colours.

Moving the painting

Always move and transport the painting by handling its frame rather than the canvas or panel itself. (Do not push through on the back of the frame as you may be directly pushing onto a stretched canvas.)

Storing your painting

If you are storing your painting for long term, avoid wrapping it in plastic which may not be acid-free and could degrade into the painting. Use acid-free tissue paper and keep away from large fluctuations in humidity (i.e. not outside in the shed! )

Cleaning

Dry dusting the painting or using a q-tip for thicker paint can help remove any dust that builds up. Avoid harsh cleaners, though a damp cloth should be fine.
